i’m sure we all have times where we feel like witchcraft is too much, too time consuming, not fulfilling enough, or we just can’t seem to get motivated to actually practice. this is especially true for my spoonie witch self! here are tips i’ve found useful for when i personally feel burnt out.
pace yourself. don’t feel like you have to get back to where you once were in your practice right away. try one tarot card a day. do some light energy work this week. schedule a day to make a tasty potion (hot cocoa potions are the bomb for this) and then watch a movie while you enjoy it.
plan in advance. maybe you can get yourself hyped for a big ritual at the next full moon! write down a day in your planner for a cool event and ration smaller preparatory tasks leading up to it.
practice passively. set a jar on your porch for when the next rain happens to fall, or throw some rose quartz in your makeup bag for your next night out. when you rediscover these things, it can really spark interest and motivation again.
explore nature in solitude. this one is huge. go for a nature walk (yes, I am a city witch and it’s possible!) and collect fallen leaves or wildflowers (cut, don’t pick) that you can use in future work. or, just soak in the awe of earth herself.
research. when you have free time, have a big research day on herbalism, crystals, your dieties, whatever. this one’s also huge for me.
glamour magick. one great active spellwork activity you can do is glamour and self love magick. #glamour magick on here, check out the tag! also recommend @orriculum for these types of spells. they really help you find peace in your craft again.
take a break from it. sometimes we need one. go out with friends and family, focus on school or work, and try your best to remain hopeful. personally, i’ve taken two of these long breaks from my craft. it helped me to rediscover why I’m a witch in the first place.
hope these helped–
until we meet again 🌜🌻🌛

My kittens hate me. I’m going to assume this was Kya’s work. I had moved a bag of yarn I got from @cauldrons_path and then forgot about it. Noticed it was off this morning and realized that was because one of the skeins was chewed on. This was what I ended up with after winding it. #misskya #badkitten #yarn #cauldronspathyarns

• get out of bed and shower anyway. and get dressed. at least feel like you have gotten up today.
• turn off social media. sometimes we try use social media as a distraction, but this often distracts us from doing what we actually need to do to help ourselves.
• eat. eat something. anything. toast, crackers, a smoothie, anything. just eat. (and have a glass of water with it too, while you’re at it.)
• you should be feeling a bit better now. at the very least, you’re taking care of your body.
• get outside. take a walk, listen to some music. it’ll help ground you.
• journal. write down every single thought in your head, no matter how weird or dark or confusing. it’s exhausting holding that all in. let it out.
• read a favourite book, and let the pages comfort you.
• clean your room - this is hard, but it will improve your mood x1000.
• sometimes you just need to lie down and take a nap. no phone, just lying down.
• set up your weekly schedule. include things you can look forward to.
• make a list of your favourite things.
• take a nice, hot bath.
• talk to a sibling. you have more in common than you think.
• you don’t have to hurt yourself. it’s okay. you can be there for yourself. you know you best, and you know what calms you down, and you know what clothes make you feel best, and you know, deep down, that there are other versions of yourself rooting for you right now. your younger self, your future self; they’re watching you and they have hope in you, even if no one else does.
the day will end, and it will be okay.(honeywrite on instagram)

Simple things you can do to bring more love and positivity into the world:
- enchant the bus or train you’re on, so that everybody has a pleasant day or a safe travel home
- paint protective sigils in the misty windows of buses or shops when it rains, and leave words of encouragement and praise on public bathrooms’ mirrors
- bless passing ambulances and firefighter trucks with speed and safety for their patients/destination
- wear an enchanted lipstick/gloss for your smile to brighten the day of everybody you meet
- enchant your spare change so that it gives luck to the beggars you donate it to; they need it, don’t they?
- actually, just enchant your money, so that retail and low-wage workers can have a better day when they serve you
- leave blessed acorns and harmless trinkets in various places like buses or waiting rooms; give other people something to wonder about and make their day, and kids an item to roll in their hands mindlessly
- bless food and leave it for stray animals; let birds be messangers of hope and miraclous event for everybody that sees them
- whisper encouragement to trees and grass you pass by; let them know someone cares, someone sees their beauty, and awaits their bloom
- smile at children and pets; provide them with the positive energy that the world is trying to kill in them
- leave motivational notes, praise and silly drawings charged with love and hope on post-it notes as you go; they can brighten the day of those that find them
